We were happy to support the creation of the documentary series "Život v Karpatoch," produced by Arolla Film. This four-part documentary series explores the Carpathian wilderness and the functioning of this amazing ecosystem.

The project Život v Karpatoch, initially a four-part series and later a feature-length film, captures a vast array of stories from the second largest mountain range in Europe. Filming took place over four years across four different countries. The Carpathians are among the most inaccessible mountain ranges in Europe, and nowhere else on the continent is wild nature as threatened. The life within them, their wildest corners, and most beautiful landscapes are showcased from the Făgăraș Mountains in Romania, Bieszczady in Poland, and the Tatras in Slovakia. Across different seasons, you can follow the stories of charismatic species such as bears, wolves, lynxes, wisents, chamois, and capercaillies. This four-part series offers an in-depth look at the Carpathian wilderness and its amazing ecosystem.

We supported the creation of the book SMRŤ STROMU, from Arolla Film. The book SMRŤ STROMU is a captivating story about the functioning of the forest, where death plays the main role.

Text author – Erik Baláž. The book is enriched with beautiful illustrations by the illustrator Vladimíra Mečiarová. Published by Bajkal, 2024.

Erik Baláž grew up under the Tatras and has spent a lot of time in the wild nature here since he was 16.

In 2002, he completed his studies in Forest Ecology at the Technical University in Zvolen with a thesis on bear ecology. During his studies, he was actively involved in campaigns by the VLK Forest Protection Association, which aimed to protect natural forests and large predators. He played a key role in the successful campaign to protect the Tichá and Kôprová valleys in the Tatras. This area today represents the largest wilderness area in Slovakia.

He is the co-author of the successful book about bears, Posledná pevnosť, and the film Strážca divočiny.

Erik is the initiator of a new conservation project in the Eastern Carpathians, which also includes the film Vlčie hory.
